About this Mission

Vision & Significance

Despite being a major food producer, India has high rates of malnutrition, stunting, and anaemia, particularly among children and women. Poshan Abhiyan addresses this paradox through targeted nutrition programs and traditional food wisdom.

Nutrition Priorities:
  • Child Nutrition: Ensuring proper nutrition for children under 5 to prevent stunting, wasting, and cognitive developmental delays.
  • Maternal Nutrition: Providing nutritional support and education to pregnant and lactating women for healthy mothers and babies.
  • Traditional Superfoods: Promoting indigenous Indian superfoods — millets, moringa, amla, turmeric — as affordable, nutrient-rich alternatives to processed foods.
  • Nutrition Education: Teaching families about balanced diets, food preparation, and nutrition science through community programs.

Our Initiatives

Vishwa Guru Bharat fights malnutrition through community nutrition programs, traditional food promotion, and supplementary feeding initiatives.

  • Millet Promotion: Campaigning for increased millet consumption — jowar, bajra, ragi — as nutritious, climate-resilient alternatives to rice and wheat.
  • Kitchen Gardens: Helping families establish small kitchen gardens that provide fresh vegetables, herbs, and greens for daily nutrition.
  • Nutrition Education Workshops: Teaching mothers and caregivers about balanced infant and child feeding practices using locally available foods.
  • Community Feeding Programs: Running supplementary feeding programs for malnourished children and pregnant women in underserved areas.

Nourish India

Good nutrition is not expensive — it requires knowledge, awareness, and the right food choices. India's traditional diet, when followed correctly, provides complete nutrition.

Eat for Health:
  • Go Millet: Replace refined wheat and rice with traditional millets — ragi, jowar, bajra — for superior nutrition.
  • Grow Your Food: Start a small kitchen garden to grow spinach, tomatoes, herbs, and moringa for fresh daily nutrition.
  • Eat Seasonal: Follow the Ayurvedic principle of eating seasonal, local foods for optimal nutrition and health.
  • Support Programs: Donate to our community feeding and nutrition education programs in underserved areas.
